Tauentzien's force Retreats from the French who sweep through Closewitz and Lutzeroda in Pursuit. fortunately behind on the other table Grawert's Division is in position to defend the next line of villages. The only question is how much of his force can Tauentzien safely get back behind this second line of defence.

As part of Lannes' Corps sweep round to the right of Closewitz, Holtsendorf's Cavalry and Horse Artillery does sterling work in slowing down Lannes' pursuit of Tauentzien. Here the French are let down by their shortage of cavalry (Murat is still several hours away). An immediate pursuit by Lannes is stalled and what remains of Tauentzien's force escapes to safety behind Grawert's Division where it can reform on what will become the Prussian third line of defence. The Prussian defend/fallback/defend plan is working.
